Sara Rits
Sara Rits is the owner and treating health-care psychologist (HC-psychologist) at Headway. She studied Clinical Psychology at Leiden University and received a Master of Science degree. Shortly after she started working as an assistant psychologist at an outpatient clinic for mood- anxiety and somatoform disorders. During this time she studied to become a cognitive behavioural therapist, became a member of the Dutch society for Cognitive Behavioural Therapies and also started treating patients with traumatic problems with EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing).

In 2016 she completed a post-master degree in Health Care Psychology which ensured registration in the Dutch register for health care professionals (BIG-register; no 89922212525). While in training for this degree she learned a lot about acceptance and commitment therapy and mindfulness based therapy and also received extensive supervision in solution focused therapy.

The past years she has put all this knowledge into practice working in the primary mental heath care (GBGGZ) which focuses on short term treatments. She also did some work in specialised mental health care (SGGZ) which focuses on more severe psychological problems and encompasses longer treatments. Her passion and drive however is more in short-term treatments which led to the idea of opening her own GBGGZ practice. This was idea was cultivated by 2019 with the start of Headway.

To keep her knowledge and skills up to date she regularly follows courses and takes part in intervision with other professionals.
