Fees and insurance

Insured care

In most cases treatment at Headway is fully or partially covered by your health insurance. For Dutch health insurances our care does fall under the 'own risk' category of care (a minimum of €385,- in 2024). Reimbursement from a Dutch health insurance is possible if you meet two demands: you are in the possession of a referral letter (from your General Practitioner) and we can establish a reimbursed DSM-5 diagnosis. For foreign health insurers, please refer to their terms or contact them if you are unsure. Your GP can refer you directly via Zorgdomein.

Treatment costs are established every year by the Dutch Care authority (NZa). Click here for the rates in 2024.

You have health insurance with one of the health insurance companies mentioned below:

Headway has a contract with these health insurers for 2024 and will send all invoices directly to them.

  • ASR (a.s.r and ik kies zelf van a.s.r.)

  • DSW (DSW, stadholland and inTwente)

  • Salland

You have health insurance with any other health insurance company than aforementioned:

Treatment costs are to be payed directly to Headway (bank account number: NL29 ASNB 0781 2761 79). At the end of the treatment you will receive an invoice which you can declare to your health insurance company for full or partial reimbursement, depending on your health insurance policy.

Uninsured care

Not all care is covered by the Dutch basic health insurance. Problems such as a low self-esteem, sleeping disorders, stress disorders of specific phobias are excluded from coverage. It's also possible you do not have a referral letter with a suspected diagnosis from your GP or you would rather not have diagnosis registered to your name. In these cases you will have to pay for treatment yourself.

Headway charges the following fees for uninsured care:

  • An intake session of 60 minutes €181,-

  • A treatment session of 45 minutes €126,-

You will receive an invoice per session which you will be required to pay directly to Headway (see bank account number above) within the specified period. In most cases you will no be able to declare this invoice to your health insurer. However, in some cases, your treatment may be covered by an additional insurance in your health insurance policy. If you are unsure, please contact your health insurance company directly.

Reimbursement

Headway has a contract with aforementioned health insurance companies for 2024. If you have a health insurance with either of these companies, your treatment will be fully reimbursed. Do you have health insurance with any other health insurance company? In that case, the amount you will be reimbursed will depend on your health insurance policy. If you have a non-contracted care policy (restitutiepolis) you are likely to receive 100% of the current market rate. If you have a contracted care policy (naturapolis) you are likely to receive 70-80% of the current market rate. This percentage is lower if you opted for a 'budgetpolis'.

You can confirm with your health insurance company which percentage they will reimburse you in line with your policy. In all cases, it is recommended that you consult your insurance policy papers too. Do also keep in mind that any possible reimbursement may be subtracted from your deductible. The statutory deductible ('own risk') in 2024 is a minimum of €385,-.

Cancellation

If you wish to cancel or reschedule your appointment you are required to do so at least 48 hours in advance. This way the freed up slot can be allotted to another client. Cancelling or rescheduling is possible by e-mail or phone (a voicemail will suffice). Cancellations or changes less than 48 hours in advance, or missed sessions, will be charged a fee of €68,- (regardless the reason). We operate in this way because the reserved slot can not be filled by someone else in such short notice. We hope you understand our point of view.
